About

Crystal Park School is a Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 8 school with 520 students and 85 staff. The school is located in northeast section of Grande Prairie that opened in 1984 and was named for the neighbourhood the school is located in.

Students moving to Grade 7 that have attended Hillside Community School or Maude Clifford Public School for Grade 6. Crystal Park School boundary students transition to the Grande Prairie Composite High School for Grade 9. 

Crystal Park School offers regular classroom instruction in a STEM Learning environment (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) as well our school delivers a broad range of inclusive education programs.

Principal's Message

Welcome to Crystal Park School! I am honored to be the principal of such a dynamic, inclusive school community.  Crystal Park School is an "inclusive community that works together to nurture and develop the whole child." We believe our mission is to create learning environments that are positive, encourage high expectations for all and are welcoming and safe. We strive to meet individual student need and embrace characteristics of every child that make them unique. We facilitate our mission and vision through our expectations, relationship building and learning opportunities provided here at CPS. We are very excited to offer a STEM learning approach here at Crystal Park School and look  forward to the growth students will make in a new and exciting learning environment. On behalf of myself and the rest of the staff here at Crystal Park, we look forward to a fabulous and successful school year.

At Crystal Park School we...

 facilitate our vision and mission through our expectations, relationship building, and opportunities that are provided. Crystal Park School takes pride in the work we do every day to meet individual students' needs to ensure all students have the necessary supports to be successful.

Serving our students at Crystal Park School is a staff of approximately 85 people. This staff consists of 22 instructional staff, 45 educational assistants, 5 custodians, 3 administrators, a learning support teacher, an administrative assistant, a library tech, a STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) –lead teacher, a business manager, a KinderPAL instructor and a lifeguard.   

Crystal Park school is host to the PUF Pre-Kindergarten Program for children who have been identified with a severe delay/disability or a moderate language delay/disability based on Alberta Education Program Unit Fund (PUF) criteria. There are also some spots available for Play Partners who are typically developing peers who have strong skills in the areas of language, self-help skills and social development.  They act as valuable play, language, and behaviour role models for students in the PUF Pre-Kindergarten Program with mild, moderate and severe disabilities and or delays.

Programs of Choice Offered at Crystal Park School

STEM Learning providing students an opportunity to develop a passion in the areas of "Science, Technology, Engineering and Math." Students will investigate and explore innovative and creative solutions to real world problems.

Graphic Logo for KinderPal

KinderPAL is an early learning Program of Choice for kindergarten-age students in GPPSD schools. The Play and Learn experience is programming in a classroom setting where students experience peer-based play as they continue developing and growing their knowledge. 

Students will experience full school day learning with kindergarten programming for half their time, and the other half is KinderPAL. It follows the school’s full-day bell schedule and calendar. A certified teacher provides kindergarten curriculum instruction, and a KinderPAL Instructor provides KinderPAL programming.
